The 80s and 90s may have been the golden age of the training video, but decades later, a new generation of fitness fanatics is helping Americans break a sweat from the comfort of their homes.

Enter the Austin Katie – the daughter of the legendary instructor of the Denise Austin aerobics – who is bringing her mother’s iconic show back to life in her app herself.

The secret of strong bone

“One thing my mother has always told me is how important the strength training is, especially when we grow old, for bone density,” said Austin, 31, a personal certified and former Lacrosse Lacrosse Lacrosse coach.

This is especially true for women, who are at a greater risk of developing osteoporosis due to the natural levels of estrogen decline while aging.

In fact, out of the 10 million rated Americans affected by the condition, which makes the bones become weak and fragile, about 80% are women, according to the women’s health office.

While muscle building can be the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about training strength, research shows that it can do more than just tone your body.

The force placed in the bone during strength training, especially with weight -bearing exercises, causes bone formative cells, making bones stronger and denser, according to Harvard Health.

This is essential for combating age -related decline in bone mass and helps reduce the risk of fractures due to osteoporosis.

“As we grow old, we tend to focus on pilates or low impact exercise, but the ensuring that you still do forcibly training is really important to stay strong and healthy in general,” Austin said.

“Even my mother of force trains about four times a week,” she added.

Inspiration hits in the Bahamas

Austin was hit with some serious nostalgia during a recent trip to the Bahamas – a place where she spent a long time as a child, labeling together as her mother filmed her famous training videos.

“I knew she was filming in Atlantis growing up, but I didn’t know the hotel where I was staying was the same,” Austin said. “When I got there, I took a photo of one of the gardens, and my mother called me and it was like” I was filmed there 35 years ago! “I didn’t know.”

This is when inspiration struck. Austin placed her phone in a gym bag, hit the record and recreated one of her mother’s classic fitness routines – in the same place where they all went down over three decades ago.

Austin posted the video on her social media – and it’s like seeing double. Her only repentance? Not packing a white leotard to complete the full look.

“I would like to start traveling to the world and making her accurate recreational videos,” Austin said. “She saved all her leotards and wear retroactive, so I could actually wear the same leotard in the same place, which is really cute.”

In the past, Austin and her mother have joined to wait withdrawal, teach fitness classes, create training content and even bikini rock on the track during Swim week in Miami.

A new era of fitness influencers

Austin said she is “dear” following her mother’s footsteps – but with her turn.

“She had her television show, but that doesn’t really exist nowadays, so I’m just doing it in my app himself,” Austin said. “Really really interesting to see how fitness has evolved so much from the 80s.”

Austin launched her app more than seven years ago, and has been a hit since then, offering a library with over 400 home training videos, plus nutritional tips and recipes – all fit for people with busy lifestyles.

With $ 99.99 for annual membership, Katie Austin app offers a flexible, budget-friendly way to fit in for less than most member members. Plus, you can get in shape without ever leaving your living room.

“When my mother’s appearance was broadcast at 7am every day of the week, people had to be awarded at the exact time,” Austin said. “Now, someone can do my workouts in demand at any time, which is really amazing.”
