An inspirational woman who is celebrating her 106th birthday says the secret of her long life is to eat chocolate.
Edith Hill only moved to a care house six years ago after turned 100 and says her daily dose of chocolate and “Celebration” keeps her feeling young and healthy.
Her favorite chocolate grass is cadury milk milk but she admits she will try any sweet test – especially on Easter.
The retired secretary was born on March 3, 1919 and has survived two world wars and saw five crowned monarchs and 23 prime ministers walked in Downing Street.
Despite her sweet tooth, Edith has not smoked or drunk too much alcohol.
When asked what the secret of her longevity was, she replied, “Being is independent, eating a lot of chocolate and party.”
Edith originating from Yorkshire now lives in Aspen Lodge Care Home in Skegness, Lincs., Where staff are planning a special birthday party on Monday-including a double chocolate cake.
To mark the moment of the moment, the staff has started an appeal for people to send their birthday cards for the purpose of hitting 106.
House House House House said, “She has already received 40 cards, but we are determined to hit 106 for each of her extraordinary years.
“It makes my heart melt that people have participated.
“This will show that there is a spirit of community there and people are willing to help.
“She is a really lovely lady with a great character and still does everything for herself.
“It is really one-in-one million.
“She can talk about England, she’s really amazing for her age.”
Edith, who has a son, will have a spring -themed holiday, with two singers performing her favorite hits from the 40s and ’50s.
Her granddaughter, Anne Turner, 86, said her aunt had always been “very much -oriented”.
She added: “She likes to continue with all the family news and has always been very independent, kind and loving.”
