A young woman was left fighting for her life after she consumed a popular energy drink while working outside and then went to cardiac arrest.
Jazmin Garza had several sips of drinks, used as a pre -training before she began to lift weights with her boyfriend, Isaac Ayala, in November.
But moments later, the 20-year-old, from the US state of Texas, crashed to the floor, her convulsive body and nasal bleeding.
Her 21-year-old boyfriend rushed to find that he was not breathing, so he performed the CPR until emergency services arrived and rushed Garsa to a nearby hospital.
“As soon as the Paramedicians got there, they took over and gave CPR for a few minutes and were finally able to take her heart again after using a defibrillator to start her heart,” Mr. Ayala on a gofundme site by raising money to help cover medical costs.
“The doctors told us that she would need a miracle to get back to us (and be the same jazm we knew).”
In total, the new Gymgoer had four cardiac arrests with doctors who put Garsa in support of life after the stomach and kidneys also “stopped working,” he said.
“The lungs and her heart were in really bad. It had to overcome three different life supports (ECMO cars for its blood circulation, dialysis to clean its kidneys and a car to control its oxygen level) in hospital and numerous procedures. “
Fortunately, Garza has done a “wonderful recovery”, and after two weeks in the hospital it was allowed at home – but the couple are now saddled with expensive bills in the hospital.
“We are now overloaded with medical bills and doctors have not yet revealed what was the leading cause of cardiac arrest,” Ayala explained.
“We also lost our work because of the amount of shortages we had to get because of this incident.”
Garza said she had death when “all of a sudden” she felt unheard of.
“I usually don’t drink caffeine drinks at all. I hadn’t been to the gym for a while and wanted to have a really good exercise, so I had a third of an energy drink, ”she said Online.
“After working outside, I sat down and really didn’t feel good. I felt light head. Isaac said it looked pale.
“Then Isaac told me afterwards that I started doing a seizure. I would never have one before. I didn’t know what was happening to me.”
It is not known whether the energy drink contributed to the unexpected state of health of the 20-year-old.
Studies have shown that excessive consumption of energy drinks has been associated with cardiovascular events such as tachycardia, myocardial infarction and death.
