She was scared Uber.
A Canadian mother was terrified after a Uber driver accidentally motivated with her daughter still inside – and the Ridshare company allegedly refused to help. She detailed the disturbing incident in a long Facebook post that came online.
“What happened to us was not just a terrible experience; it was a complete division of security, responsibility and basic human determination,” accused Julia Viscomi. “Uber chose politics over my daughter’s life.”
The post has reached the Ridshare Company for comment.
The birth of Toronto had taken a Uber with her five -year -old daughter Amelia, along with three other children and an adult, at 11am when Tyke fell asleep at the back of the car.
Unfortunately, due to the adjustment of the seats, with other passengers blocking her daughter from the doors, Viscom had to wait for everyone to go out so that she could attract it.
Upon arriving at their destination, Canuck declared her goals out loud so that the vehicle operator could hear.
Despite her vocal announcement, the driver failed to hear her denial. “Before I could get Amelia, the driver got up. With Amelia still inside,” the aggravated parent recalled.
She found the especially terrible mistake. “The exit plan was communicated aloud and clearly with the driver,” and “there was no linguistic obstacle,” she said.
Terrified, Viscom contacted the Uber driver, but they could not be reached. When she tried to approach the company, they allegedly refused to give a hand.
“They refused to contact the driver. I begged them,” the worried mother confessed. She then contacted the authorities, where she was asked to provide “a recent photo” of Amelia for what she assumed to be an Amber Alert – a moment she called the “only worst experience” of her whole life.
Although the police insisted that Uber contact the driver, they refused on the grounds that he was “outside their politics” for Viscom.
As a result, ”[my daughter] It was only in the dark, with a stranger, terrified and confused, ”the Canadian mourned.
Just an hour later, police finally managed to track it.
To make things worse, Uber refused to make changes and simply offered her an automated $ 10 loan for her problems.
Viscomi claimed that the firm eventually offered it “a low offensive solution”, but “has refused to accept any failure of their systems” or “to have internal discussions on policy change”.
“I have spent the last 5 weeks trying to solve this in silence and with direct respect with Uber,” she said. “I’ve been patient, quiet and professional. But Uber still refuses to take true responsibility.”
“This was not the time for red bureaucratic tape,” Viscomi added. “Her life was in danger and Uber refused to help.”
The interested parent is now using traumatic experience as a warning tale for other parents who are thinking of reserving a trip with the firm.
“Parento parent deserves to know that if something goes wrong during a trip, the company they believed will act, not to hide behind politics,” she warned on Facebook. “This is not just about my daughter. It is about every family that uses these platforms waiting for them to do the right thing in urgent cases.
Uber representatives have since addressed the incident in a statement.
“We understand how worrying this situation was for the family involved and we are grateful that the child was certainly reunited with their parent,” spokesman told the Daily Mail. “We immediately began to review the details of this internally incident to identify opportunities to improve processes and support systems. The safety of all used by Uber remains our main advantage.”
According to the security section on the Uber website, “Uber support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is treated by a team of trained security agents.”
“If you are in immediate danger, you should first contact the authorities,” they added. “Law enforcement may require data through our online public safety portal.”
