Before entering, Lydia had to get rid of many of her assets.

But to her surprise, she has embraced her new minimalist style and is “loving her”.

Lydia, a graduate student from Frankfurt, Germany, said: “I was honestly bored of how many things I had gathered.

“This made me understand how much we consume without thinking and how little we need.

“I donated and donated a lot, and I felt too free.”

Lydia was transferred to Seoul just over two and a half years ago.

Previously, Lydia lived in common houses and standard apartments.

This is her sixth movement in the city, but her first time living in a Goshiwon.

Lydia said: “Four of my past places were ‘Western -style’ apartments targeted for immigrants and foreign students.

“One was a typical Korean apartment with three small bedrooms, a kitchen and an ordinary” wet room “bath.

“My current housing (Goshiwon) is really popular among students and newcomers to Seoul.

“They fill quickly, especially at the beginning of every semester.

I moved in the middle of the semester, so it was a little complicated to find a room, so why did I end up with one of the smallest rooms. “

Lydia had to be significantly reduced to make her things fit into the 77 ft² micro-apartment.

She said: “I’ve never considered myself a minimalist, but this kind of living made me a default.

“And surprisingly, I’ve loved it!”

Lydia pays $ 328 a month for rent and has a municipal cuisine and a laundry room she shares with other women living on her floor.

Despite the restrictions on space, Lydia finds the cozy apartment and suitable for its needs.

She said: “Really really comfortable and appropriate.

“It helps me stay focused, especially because I’m studying full -time and working part -time, meaning I’m rarely at home during the day.

“When I come back, my little room feels like a cozy coconut.

“I decorated it in pink and purple, and I think it’s super cute.”
