Garry Wilson, the Director General of Easyjet Holidys, said: “Southend is a synonym of ice cream, and which better way to celebrate our newest basis than with something that also represents the joy of holidays, offering customers a genuine taste of their future trip.

“With the now -available packages and vacations of 20 destinations from London Southend, this will not only enable us to serve much more clients, providing value and more choices, but it also supports critical connection and jobs for the UK, as we settle for our largest summer ever.”

The new London Southend base is now home to three A320neo EasyJet aircraft, supporting about 1,200 jobs, including 140 direct jobs for pilots and cabin crew.

The airline is serving 122 flights a week to 20 roads from Southend to leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa – an increase of 133 percent compared to last summer.

The new base provides over 330,000 seats for holiday customers to choose when planning their summer removal.

London Southend is the 10th opening of the UK base after the start of Birmingham International Airport last year, as the airline responds to the increase in consumer demand for flights and vacations of packages.

The airline and vacation company are anticipating their largest summer season, with seven other aircraft joining the UK fleet by Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and London Southend.

This aims to provide half a million more countries this summer across the airline network that includes Europe and North Africa.
