A father who suspected that he had gallstones or was constipated has been tragically stated that he had “weeks to several months to live” – after his condition was found to be intestinal cancer.
Kev Coles, from Stoke-on-Trent, Headquarters, was diagnosed with fourth phase cancer in September last year after months of stomach pain.
The 46-year-old father of the seventh says he did not suffer any of the typical symptoms of intestinal cancer-so he was shocked when doctors told him the severity of his illness.
The woman Kayleigh Coles, 36, encouraged her to visit doctors for the first time in July 2024 – where she claims she was sent.
The Coupleifi initially suspected that he was suffering from gallstones or a blockage, like constipation.
However, due to the deterioration of pain, they visited GP several times more, where Kayleigh says Kev was described laxative and was repeatedly sent home.
But on August 22, things took a turn for the worst when Kev began to sweat – as he was under a shower and his skin turned yellow.
Kayleigh said: “He started sweating as if someone was taking water on him and when he looked at me I noticed that he had gone completely yellow. Then he just vomit.â €
After a few weeks insisting on an immediate scan, Kev received his devastating diagnosis in September last year, where doctors found a nine -centimeter tumor in his intestine.
The scan also found that the cancer had spread to its liver, which was causing its yellow skin.
Kev began chemotherapy in October, but after now suffering a liver failure, he has been told that he has only “weeks to several months to live” and is taking care of life at home.
Kayleigh added: “He has no other symptoms. The intestinal cancer itself was without symptoms, we only noticed after spreading to his liver. He never got blood on his bench as in TV advertising.
â € œ she has been a friend to everyone. Even now it feels like a story. It doesn’t feel true most of the time. How can you get your head about something that happens quickly.
“Just five months ago we were on vacation by spraying each other in the sea, now he cannot be raised impartial.
“Life of life has been extremely difficult. I’m just making sure I have as many seconds as I can.â €
Since his diagnosis, the father has lost 35 kg and has been fighting with his mobility.
Kayleigh has now created a gofundme site to help with family spending and help Kev to maintain his independence.
So far the site has raised over 1,500 â which will go to specialized chemistry clothes, as well as adaptation to their home- such as getting a bed downstairs.
Kayleigh also says she wants to raise awareness of the condition, and as the symptoms are not always what you expect.
The mother says she feels released by the NHS, as if they had seen it sooner, he could have been in a better position.
She said: “It is so worrying that he was sent countless with laxatives.
â € œai has been a whirlpool since the diagnosis. It is just such a shame that was not found sooner.
“It should have been taken more seriously when he first entered stomach pain. It was a meaningless and a deadly mistake.
“Now it’s incurable. There is nothing that can be done to save it. I have to lose my best friend because people didn’t hear it.
“There is more consciousness. If you have a stomach pain, then check it, and please don’t think you are overloading.â €
Kev and Kayleigh, who met over eight years ago at a train station, were set to get married in August this year.
But with the diagnosis of Kevâ, the couple decided not to wait and to have a small ceremony in December 2024.
Kayleigh said: “We just wouldn’t want to be no longer a man and woman. We have always been very close, but we are inseparable now.â €
A spokesman for the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust said: “We will encourage Mr. Coles to speak with our tips for patients and the liaison team to raise any concerns about UHNM care so that we can fully investigate.”
