McDonald’s Pokemon Happy Meal is here – what’s in the box?

Do you want cards with him?

McDonald’s has launched a limited-time Pokémon Happy Meal, sending fans of all ages scrambling for their share of the collectible’s coveted loot — with some heading straight to eBay to resell their wares for hundreds.

Available through the fast food chain’s mobile app, the offer includes one of four themed boxes, each containing a booster pack for the popular Pokémon trading card game.

In addition to your meal, you’ll receive four promotional trading cards from a special collection of 15, plus a Pokémon poster and some stickers.

In addition, each purchase comes with a special in-game bonus for users of the Pokémon TCG Pocket app. Customers will be given a code to redeem.

The meal features Pokémon-themed apple slices and milk jugs, too.

“I can’t wait to see the sheer display of neck savagery they bring on the local McDonald’s cashiers,” said one fan in a discussion about the promotion on Reddit.

“I’m 37 years old and I don’t eat more than 4 pieces of chicken and a couple of stale apples,” confessed one grown man.

“I’m in my 30s and I’m doing the same thing. I’ll make sure to tell them my twelve kids are home and I’m just picking them up,” said another.

After just 24 hours, the cards tucked into the iconic kids’ meals are already being sold on sites like eBay — with complete collections of 15 reselling for anywhere from $37 to $110, according to Game Rant.

The site also reported that some customers had received non-Pokémon toys in their branded snacks.

When demanding that the situation be rectified, one fan said a manager at a San Francisco store could be heard berating staff members for handing out children’s toys to Pokémon customers.

Cards can eventually raise serious money online – attracting unscrupulous players to the market.

The Post previously reported that two Washington men were jailed after defrauding fans of nearly $2 million in counterfeits.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Golden Arches has paired up with the anime phenomenon – the initial collaboration was in 1999, to promote the release of the first Pokémon movie.

Recently, in 2021, they joined forces to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.

The current promotion will continue until the end of February.
