The quality of the food had experienced a “rapid descent”.
A first-time United Airlines passenger was surprised to experience a major drop in food quality from one flight to another, which she detailed in a Reddit post going viral.
“New to this airline so not sure how reliable the meal service is [is]but with an airline as big and fancy as United I’m surprised [at] the drop in quality from one week to the next,” the Redditor griped.
She also included photos comparing the two meals side by side.
The passenger was reportedly discussing an in-flight meal she ordered on United Flight 1483 from Seattle to Denver on Jan. 20, which she considered a departure from what she ate on the same flight on Jan. 13.
On both flights, the flyer had macaroni and cheese, a side salad and a cup of Magnolia Bakery brand banana pudding — with the only difference being a bread roll on the second flight.
However, while the first plate of noodles looked quite edible, the sequel included a pile of unfamiliar slop that looked like it had been stuffed straight out of a pork ladle, as seen in the photo.
“I would proudly give up my roll this week for last week’s pasta,” complained the outraged passenger.
Redditors were similarly horrified at the dish’s difference.
“Your pasta looks so flat today,” one commented, while another wrote, “Can’t there be an NSFE (not safe to eat) warning on the second image? Yeeesh.”
“Did you dump him a week later for the second picture?” a third scoffed.
A United flight attendant even weighed in on the food ordeal, declaring: “As the FA it’s always embarrassing to serve this food. Please give feedback on the company!! They never listen to us FA.”
This isn’t the first in-flight meal that has viewers searching for their figurative airplane barf bags.
In July, a disappointed passenger felt like she had been caught in the kitchen after receiving dry penne tubes that looked nothing like the picture on the menu.
