Here’s a “life-changing” hack that Chipotle guys everywhere are dying to know.
One of the best parts of Chipotle is the ability to customize your entire meal — and one content creator shared his hack to get two meals in one.
Tom Yanoshik (@tom.yanoshik on Instagram) revealed how he gets a burrito and a bowl with just one order.
All you have to do is order your bowl as usual, but ask for a tortilla on the side. He also suggested asking for a side of cheese, sour cream and vinaigrette.
To make a DIY burrito, roll up the tortilla and place about half of the bowl in the middle of the tortilla.
Since bowl portions are usually larger than burrito portions, you’ll be able to fill your burrito with about half of the bowl’s contents and save the rest for later.
Once the burrito is filled and folded, Yanoshik places a row of cheese on a hot pan, making sure the cheese is the size of the burrito.
When the cheese starts to melt and bubble, he places the burrito on top of the cheese, open seam side down, and lets the cheese seal the burrito.
When the burrito is able to slide around the pan, the cheese is melted and ready to roll. Lightly fry it on the other side and put it back on the plate.
To finish off his hack, Yanoshik made a DIY burrito dressing with sour cream and Chipotle vinaigrette by pouring some sour cream into the vinaigrette cup and shaking it up. He pours the sauce on the burrito and takes a bite.
The content creator said the hack was “life-changing” – especially since it saves money and gives an extra whole meal.
Recently customers have had beef with Chipotle over reduced portion sizes and higher prices.
TikTok users have “reviewed the bombardment” at the fast food chain over portion sizes – so much so that people claiming to be Chipotle employees called in to say their managers are instructing them to “fill anyone’s bowls if they have a phone.
However, the fast food chain has denied any changes to portions. Last year, Laurie Schalow, Chipotle’s chief corporate affairs and food safety officer, told People that “there have been no changes in [the company’s] portion sizes.”
In July, New York-based Wells Fargo analyst Zachary Fadem put the theory to the test, ordering a total of 75 burrito bowls at multiple local locations and using the weight of the bowl as his measuring stick.
He found a wide range from location to location: The average bowl came in at about 21.5 ounces, but some were as light as 13.8 ounces.
