We all know that it only takes the blink of an eye and your child is suddenly fully grown.
But one mother says her eyes are feeling more tired every day.
“I’m literally wishing away my life and my time with my little one while she’s still so young,” the mom admitted.
‘I feel so guilty’
On Reddit’s parenting forum, the mom revealed that she finds herself wishing for the end of the day, every day.
“I can’t wait for her to go to bed every night,” she confessed.
“This is a problem for me, not for him. She is amazing, fun and funny. She is a good sleeper and eater and generally very well behaved.â€
The crux of the matter is an experience universally felt by parents.
“I’m overwhelmed as a parent, overstimulated, tired, and I just want to have veggies every night because my brain is so full,” she said.
“I feel so guilty.â€
‘The best part of the day’
The mother is left to wonder if these feelings will ever go away and if she will truly enjoy her time with her little one. It has been weighing on his mind for some time.
“Has anyone else felt this way for a long time, like over 19 months. What have you done? How did you get out of it? – she asked in the forum.
Readers flooded the comments section with empathy and assurance.
“Bedtime is the best part of the day. This is a known fact, read the most popular answer.
“It’s amazing how we can love something so completely, do everything we can to meet their needs, but come 7 p.m.… we don’t want to talk to them anymore. Until tomorrow.†Â
Others could relate to how the mother felt.
“Motherhood would be absolutely perfect if the kids went to bed around 4pm, right before you had to figure out dinner and they became gremlins,” joked one mother.
“I’ve had PPD for almost ten months now, and every single day is a struggle. I don’t want to look back and regret these days, but I just can’t settle for anything. I despise what I’ve become. I’m not the mom that I want to be, said another.
“This is just parenting. “You can love them more than your own life and still desperately want them to go to sleep,” offered a third.
Some commenters suggested she consult a professional.
It seems that parents, both on the forum and in everyday life, agree that modern parenting is no walk in the park.
Counting down the minutes until bedtime is not something every parent does alone.
