Bryan Johnson only ages 8 months every year – here’s how

Biohacker Bryan Johnson claims to have turned back the clock – or at least halted the aging process.

Netflix’s new documentary “Don’t Die: The Man Who Wanted to Live Forever” focuses on method and madness of the California-based tech entrepreneur and millionaire who has garnered a cult following with his extreme longevity plan “Project Blueprint.”

In the document, Johnson, 47, claims his intense routine means he now ages more slowly than the average person – and for every year that passes, he’s only eight months older.

“By making Blueprint, one of the main objectives is to achieve the lowest possible biological age. Just like a tree has rings, we all have a signature within our bodies of our age,” Johnson explained.

Biological age – the age of our cells and tissues – is influenced by genetics and lifestyle habits such as diet and exercise. While chronological age is the number of years we’ve been alive and started, biological or “phenotypic” age measures factors such as metabolism, inflammation and organ function.

And according to Johnson, he has managed to make big changes in his rate of biological aging.

“After doing Blueprint for 2 years, I have changed my biological age by 5.1 years, I have 50 perfect biomarkers, I have 100 biomarkers where I am less than my chronological age,” he stated in the document.

Johnson explained that his aging speed before Blueprint was 1.03, but it has been reduced to 0.69, meaning that for every 12 months, he only ages eight.

Theoretically, if Johnson continues his progress, his biological age could be 69 by the time he reaches chronological age 80.

While Johnson’s efforts have certainly made him difficult to meet, they have paid off, or at least shaved. Netflix

“As far as how far that goes, it’s open. We have no idea, but I want to get my aging rate down to the lowest possible number,” he said.

Johnson. who spends $2 million a year to maintain his youth, also spends every morning using a meticulous regimen of light therapy, 91 supplements and numerous vegan-based meals.

“There are probably over a hundred different things I do every day that the body has been asking to be in its ideal state,” he said.

Studies have suggested that a vegan diet effectively reduces biological age by as little as two months.

Conversely, numerous studies link ultra-processed foods (UPF) such as packaged foods, sugary drinks, mass-produced bread, fruit yogurt, breakfast cereals and meat alternatives to accelerated biological aging.

Further studies found that eliminating 10 grams of added sugar from your daily diet can reduce your biological age by 2.4 months over time.

In his efforts to drink wholeheartedly from the fountain of youth, Johnson adheres to a strict, lights-out schedule at 8:30 p.m. every night to ensure at least eight hours of sleep.

Good sleep hygiene is essential to combat cell degeneration. Research published in the journal Sleep Health concluded that those with inconsistent sleep patterns had a higher biological age than those with a regular sleep schedule.

He admitted in November that he took the cancer drug off his death-defying list because of concerns about skin and soft tissue infections, abnormal levels of fats in his blood, elevated blood sugar and a higher heart rate. on vacation

Because rapamycin suppresses the immune system, “side effects can include very dangerous bacterial infections, things like pneumonia or cellulitis or pharyngitis,” said Dr. Oliver Zolman, a longevity doctor who works with Johnson.

In addition to various therapies, fistfuls of supplements and a strict schedule, Johnson has continued to prove that his quest to defeat death knows no boundaries or bloodlines.

He even receives controversial blood transfusions from his teenage son in an attempt to have the youngest possible biological age and has undergone penile wave therapy in the name of sexual health.
