Instacart customer only wants female shoppers after order failure

A disgruntled woman is calling on food delivery apps to allow users to choose the gender of their customer after she claims a male employee got 80% of her order wrong.

The app’s user, named Sammi, took to TikTok to share her divisive statement, before many agreed to agree that women are simply better at doing grocery store searches.

“Unless you’re the CEO of DoorDash or Instacart, keep moving. This is not for you,” Sami said at the beginning of her video.

“I’m begging you to make an update to your app where I can request a female buyer.”

She went on to explain that she recently placed an order for five items – and only one item was correct.

There has been an online discussion about male shoppers on food delivery apps for some time, but the conversation has been reignited after a TikTok went viral. Reuters

Sammi claims she ordered a half gallon of store brand milk and received a quarter gallon of Tuscan milk.

She also ordered a chopped Caesar salad kit and received the Ultimate Caesar Salad Kit, although she admitted she expected this from her buyer because you have to look “a little bit more” for the chopped kit and “a man won’t never did”.

Sammi also got a mozzarella stick instead of pearls because “again, you have to look a little tougher.”

To make matters worse, she also asked for Land O’Lakes Garlic and Herb Butter and even told the male buyer to refund the item if it was unavailable instead of finding a replacement.

However, the man still went ahead and replaced it with Land O’Lakes Canola Butter.

The only thing the shopper got right was the store brand Italian seasoning.

“I just think we need to get to where men can’t be shoppers for Instacart or Doordash, but that would be discrimination,” she noted.

She shared that she eventually received a full refund, but she wasn’t the only woman who had frustrating experiences with male buyers.

“I ordered tampons and replaced them with white mushrooms. I’ve been telling this story for about 4 years because I’m still not done,” said one viral TikTok viewer.

“A man replaced my mincemeat with a watermelon and I’m still confused about it,” commented another.

“I once ordered overnight pillows and ended up with a pack of tissues, so unfortunately I feel your pain,” someone said.

Others shared experiences where they had a female shopper go above and beyond.

“I had a lady once ask me if I wanted parmesan because it was on sale and she thought it would go well with what I had ordered,” recalls one.

“I had a woman throw in a well card (with her money) because she could tell all the items I was ordering were to be sick: chicken noodle soup ingredients and a ton of medicine. The elite,” shared another.

“My last lady buyer texted me worried that the grapes didn’t look good and she didn’t want me to have any bad ones. Meanwhile, the guy brought me expired lunch meat,” someone else wrote.
