Now we know how Kevin McCallister racked up such a hefty room service bill.
Inspired by the 1992 Christmas movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Plaza Hotel offers a dining special that pays homage to the character’s decadent dessert order.
But costing your wallet isn’t a treat – as two guests recently discovered.
Amira Harvey, an LA-based musician and content creator, and influencer Jenna Sinatra were blown away by the impressive price of their luxury ice cream order after they decided to deliver room service.
The pair, who were staying at the Plaza Hotel, claimed they “accidentally” spent $500 on the 16-scoop ice cream tower – complete with all the fixings, such as whipped cream, M&Ms, maraschino cherries and a choice of chocolate, caramel. and raspberry sauces — in a viral TikTok video that has racked up millions of views.
The Post has reached out to Harvey and Sinatra for comment.
“POV: you accidentally ordered $500 worth of ice cream,” Harvey captioned the video.
In the clip, a poster-shocked Sinatra revealed that, before placing the order, Harvey assured him it was only $100 and that they would split the bill. Instead, she opened the check to see a bill for $500.
Even after the sundae smorgasbord was rolled out on a luxury cart stocked with multiple toppings, Harvey asked if they could “bring it back.”
“I haven’t even seen the movie,” Sinatra admitted.
While Kevin McCallister’s sweet spread ran up a bill of $967, the Home Alone Sundae at today’s Plaza Hotel costs $350 before tax, meaning a scoop of chocolate and vanilla ice cream costs more than $21.
Add the $12 per order fee, tax, and a 22% service charge, and the total comes to nearly $500.
Viewers seemed just as surprised by the ending — and some were more shocked that Sinatra hadn’t seen “Home Alone.”
“You better eat every M&M,” one viewer joked.
“For $500 I’ll carry the dishes and utensils,” added another.
Harvey responded to many of the comments by saying that she had “learned [her] lesson” after the experience.
“I don’t think any ice cream is worth $500,” Harvey wrote. “But the experience was fun! lol.”
In subsequent clips – by popular demand – the pair shared footage of themselves indulging in the multi-topped confection. Although, they admitted, they “barely left it.”
The Plaza also offers a Home Alone: Fun in New York experience that allows guests to “get lost in New York, Kevin McCallister style.”
The package add-on gives guests the chance to recreate iconic scenes from the film and includes a four-hour limousine ride to see iconic Big Apple landmarks – which also doubled as filming locations for the film – such as Central Park, Radio City Music Hall and the Empire State Building.
While the limousine ride offers a hot cheese pizza as an option, guests also get 16 scoops in their room.
